El Royale Cafe

Went for dinner on a Friday and loved the atmosphere. The wait for a patio table wasn't as long as the dining room table wait, so we opted for outside and waited 30 min. I didn't really like the salsa as it tasted more like Marinara Sauce, but the triple dip appetizer was good. Everyone enjoyed their drinks and entrees and the portions were a generous size.

I was a little wary after reading some of the reviews but glad that didn't deter me. The food was excellent. Yes, it is pricey for a Mexican restaurant, but the quality of the food seems much better than your standard place. The service was outstanding. Our waitress frequently came by to check on everything and bring refills for drinks or chips. The fajitas were excellent. Definitely plan to return.

Love this place! The ambiance is fantastic, and we loved the food. The service from the staff was outstanding, and the manager came over to ensure that everything was well. They also have a great Tequila selection. We will definitely add this to our rotation board. We will definitely add this to our rotation for date night!

A new spot in Birmingham that you should definitely add to your must do list. We were a party of 8 celebrating Father's Day. We made reservations in advance so when we arrived we were able to walk right in and we were seated immediately. The full was very tasty. There's something for everyone. The full lineup of Mexican Cuisine is available of course, but there is something even for the pickest eaters. The Grouper was perfect, the Lobster tail was spot on, the Prawns were a nice Size, the half chicken was seasoned perfectly and the other meals were great as well. If you are near downtown, south side or uptown pay them a visit you can't go wrong.

The food and atmosphere are amazing. Great new spot to add to the foodie list in Birmingham! However, we had a reservation and still had to wait 30 mins on our table. Once we got our table, it seemed like the waitress was too spread thin to remember what we asked for. Also there seemed to be some miscommunication between food runners and waitress. The floors are SUPER slick, we each almost fell several times - be careful! Would still highly recommend. Easy fixes on the end of El Royale!

Very nice atmosphere. Friendly service! We were greeted from valet to bar to table. Reservations were honored. Bar drinks were good and strong. The House Elote was a savory corn dip dish with Tajiin on top. It was good, but for the serving size I felt the price point to be a bit much. The Honey Chipotle Ribs were good. They were a little fatty but had great flavor in the meat and sauce! I would def get these again. Great atmosphere with indoor, sunroom, patio seating available. I LOVED all the flowers and the tropical atmosphere. They even have an outdoor bar area with a tv to catch the game while you have a cold one which is a plus. Great place to try, or make your new watering hole.
